North Leith (Citadel)
Rob Rowlands’ layout is based on the small terminus station of North Leith (Citadel) and is set in the period 1958-60. The line actually closed to passenger trains in 1947, but these have been reinstated on the model to provide a wider range of operating opportunities. The station has a small goods yard and sorting sidings for docks traffic (the large goods shed and sidings have not been modelled).
In this busy scene a selection of four-wheeled vans, including insulated vehicles for fish traffic, are unloaded in the goods bays at North Leith (Citadel) station.
Standard Class 4 2-6-4 tank 80055 prepares to leave on a local with its rake of Gresley non-corridor stock, while a grimy J72 0-6-0 readies itself for its regular shunting duties.
The preponderance of red and cream buildings and similarly liveried road vehicles in this atmospheric view of the station puts the model firmly in the late fifties period.
