Kinwardine Wharf

Kinwardine Wharf was featured in the December 2004 issue of Trains On-line Magazine and although the result of pure modeller’s licence includes features from the real world. The warehouse, for instance, is based on one that still stands in Stourbridge, West Midlands. Built to a scale of 4mm/ft and 009 gauge the viewing area is only 5 feet x 18 inches and is packed full of detail.

The lock scene (above) is typical of the attention to detail lavished on this small narrow gauge layout and rewards a closer look.

Passengers await the arrival of the next train on the wooden platform at Kinwardine Wharf, the eastern terminus of the Vaenol Tramway.

Again, attention to small details fills this street scene with interest — the postman and red bike, the elderly truck and the Victorian post box. Note also the name of the solicitors!
