Dunnichen Steam Shed

Dunnichen Steam Shed is typical of the many depots that had their origins in pre-grouping days that could still be found in the late 1950s and early 1960s across the whole of Britain. Cupar and District MRC’s model has Dundee Tay Bridge as its guide, though it is based on nowhere in particular. Like all depot layouts it allows the group to show off their collection of locomotives in an environment typical of where they began and ended their working days.

Strange shed mates...an ex-Great Western Hall class loco is coaled, while an ex-LNER Class J39 sits in a siding waiting for its next turn of duty.

Former Riddles designed Ministry of Supply ‘austerity’ 0-6-0 saddle tank locomotive (later Class J94) 68074 eases a rake of loaded coal wagons up the ramp into the coaling stage.

There’s a distinctly Scottish flavour to this shed scene as A4 60031 Golden Plover, Standard 5MT 4-6-0 73082 and Gresley designed V1/3 2-6-2 tank loco 67645—all bulled up ready for the road—wait their turn to leave the shed.
