Open days round up...

WAVENEY Valley MRC, which has been holding a series of Open Days at Grange Farm Centre, Barsham, Suffolk, staged its final three of 2007 on 29 September, 27 October and 24 November.

TWICKENHAM and District MRC is staged its first open day since moving into its new, bigger clubrooms in 2004. The event on September 8, at the Kerswell Hall, Hounslow, featured the club’s five layouts and the first public showing of the club’s multi-gauge running track.

CLEVELAND MRC held an open day at St Aidan’s Church Hall, Boosbeck, near Guisborough, Cleveland, on 29 September.

SOUTHPORT Model Railway Society has updated its web site, which can now be found at: www.southportmodelrailway.org.uk.

Date fixed for anniversary show

CRAWLEY Model railway Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008 and aims to put on a very special show with two halls, more layouts and more traders than normal.

It will be held 12 and 13 April 2008 at the Tanbridge House School, Farthings Hill, Guildford Road, Horsham, West Sussex.

ExpoEM 2008 venue fixed

FOLLOWING the news that their regular venue—Bletchley Leisure Centre—will not be available in 2008 because it is to be rebuilt, the EM Gauge Society has opted to stage its May event in Bracknell.

The event will be held over the weekend of 17-18 May at the Bracknell Leisure Centre, Bagshot Road, Bracknell, Berkshire.

Aussie modellers’ convention

THE British Railway Modellers of Australia organisation held a wine and steam tour on October 11, the first day of its National Convention, which is being held at the St Francis Winery Convention Centre, Reynella, Adelaide, South Australia.

The Convention, which was staged 11-14 October, includes an afternoon seminar with Tim Shackleton (12th) and layout tours (13th).

Exhibition at Bexley

ERITH Model Railway Society, in association with Kent Garden Railways, held its annual Bexley Show over the weekend of 22-23 September. Exhibition manager Paul Plummer says 00 layouts confirmed as attending include West Foxley and Widnes Road.

Tri-ang Society

THE Tri-ang Society’s second show of the year was held on Saturday September 22 at the Methodist Church Hall, The Avenue, Sale, Manchester.

Stafford hits a half ‘ton’

STAFFORD Railway Circle celebrated its 50th anniversary this year and got things off to a good start with its annual show over the weekend February 3-4. More than 20 layouts were on display including the club’s award winning Littleton. More details in January magazine

St Albans exhibition

CHILTERN Model Railway Association staged its annual model railway exhibition at St Albans on January 13. The event, which was held at the Alban Arena (Civic Centre), featured more than 20 layouts and a wide selection of specialist and general trades along with demonstrations static exhibits and society stands.

Yorkshire show favourite

BILLED as West Yorkshire’s ‘most popular show’, the Normanton and Pontefract railway Modellers Society exhibition on January 27 and 28 featured more than 20 layouts in a wide range of gauges and scales. The event, which was held at New College, Park Lane, Pontefract, also offered visitors a wide range of demonstrations

Annual meeting

MANCHESTER Model Railway Society held its annual general meeting on February 10 and its annual dinner on March 17.

School venue

MYTON School, Warwick was the venue for the Leamington and Warwick Model Railway Society’s 2007 exhibition, which was held on January 20 and 21.
